A Message from Senator Don Benton
My Friends,
I am running to be your United States Senator because, as a father of four, I believe our freedoms contract as our government expands and I can no longer just stand on the sidelines and complain.
U.S. Senator Patty Murray’s reckless spending threatens the very existence of the United States. I want my children and grandchildren to grow up in an America of opportunity, where you can still get a good paying job.
This past year, while our economic problems grew, capitalism and the free market system were attacked by government intrusion on an unprecedented level. And while people lost jobs at a record pace, with unemployment soaring past 10%, Patty Murray forgot the most basic, fundamental truth about American prosperity: Government is not the solution to the problem, government is the problem!
I know this firsthand because for over 30 years, I’ve been a small business owner. I know what it means to operate on a budget. I know when times are tough you can’t spend money you don’t have. You have to find better, more efficient ways to get the job done.
U.S. Senator Patty Murray has been fully co-opted by 18 years of special interests and her reckless, wasteful spending will drive us into bankruptcy. No society has ever taxed itself into prosperity, and ours won’t either. We cannot afford representation that has turned a deaf ear to us while she supports an agenda bent on indebting our children and future generations indefinitely in the process.
I want to be your United States Senator, and together, with your help and support, we’re going to win in November and start getting America back on the right track.
Sincerely,
Don Benton
Issues
Jobs
Our primary focus as a government and a Nation must be jobs and our economy. We must create and instill a business-friendly economy that will enable the private-sector to develop jobs. We must build the American economy and empower free-markets which are the key to our economic future.
American Culture
The people determine the strength of a nation. American culture must be cultivated and nourished in every generation.
Government Accountability
Government must be accountable and transparent and government officials must be held to the highest ethical standards. “Transparency” can’t be a throw-away phrase in a campaign used to get votes and then quickly forgotten.
Terrorism
We must take the necessary steps to remain vigilant and to keep Americans safe both at home and abroad.
Military
Our military can’t be compromised. We must provide the finest training and equipment possible to help our military readiness to meet any threat, any time, anywhere. And a strong economy is a critical element to our military posture and abilities.
Health Care
I will fight against a federal takeover of healthcare. Eighty five percent of Americans are happy with the health care we have. Penalizing the many for the few is not a sensible policy.
